Blog post #5 (last one) - due Mon., Dec. 20

You can choose your own topic this week, but it must be something that happened to you. For example, you could write about the best or worst day of your life, a special birthday you had, graduating from high school, attending a wedding. You need to write at least 100 words. I will check 2 items--capital letters and spelling.

Blog entry 4 - due Wed., Dec. 9

This week you need to write 100 words or more about why you want to finish your education at ZU. This can include why you wanted to come to ZU, what you want to study after you finish in the ABP, and your plans and dreams for the future. I will be checking for run-on sentences, so be sure you put periods at the end of sentences and don't try to make especially long sentences.

Blog Entry 3 - due Wed., Nov. 25

Write 100 words about your favorite place in the UAE. I will check for fragments, so make sure you have a subject and verb in every sentence and every clause. Try to add a photo, especially if you have a photo that you took.

My favorite place in the UAE is the sand dunes in the desert. I like to go camping in the desert with my friends. It is so quiet and peaceful there. It is a nice escape from the noise of traffic and air conditioning in the city. This picture shows some sand dunes in the desert 50 kilometers south of Khatim (off the road between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain).

Blog Entry 2 - due Wed., Nov. 18

Write at least 100 words about why one or more of your brothers and/or sisters is special to you. Give specific examples of things that have happened in the past to make you feel this way. Be specific about things this person has done to help you or make you feel happy. Chris will check capital letters. This includes, but is not limited to, capital letters at the beginning of sentences, the word I, and names of people, places, etc.

Blog Entry 1 - due Wed., Nov. 11 @ 2:00

Write 100 words about the best vacation you ever had. Write the name of the place as the title. Where did you go? Who went with you? How old were you? What did you do that you enjoyed? Would you like to go again, or would you choose somewhere else?

You will be assessed on correct use of verb tenses. Note that many (but probably not all) of the verbs will be in simple past tense and may be irregular. They need to be spelled correctly.

Try to put one photo to show us something about what this place looked like. You can use a photo from the Internet if you don't have one already. Do you know what country my photo is from?

Explanation of blogging

This is a way of practicing writing accurately. Every week I will post instructions on what you need to write about. You will usually need to write at least 100 words every week to get a grade, and the grades from your 5 blogs will be averaged together as one final grade. That grade is 1% of your final grade in the course.Every week I will assess you on ONLY ONE OR TWO particular accuracy points.

For each contribution your grade will be:
no mistakes=100%
1 mistake=90%
2 mistakes=80%
3-4 mistakes=70%
5 or more mistakes or not enough words=60%
Zero if you don't complete your blog or it's very short
